Live from Minneapolis
I’m in Minneapolis tonight. (okay, I’m really in downtown St. Paul) I’ve been here since about noon today and here are just a few random observations:
- Downtown St. Paul is like downtown Minneapolis in that they have connected all of their buildings with Skywalks it’s like a HUGE mall. If you ever stay in downtown St. Paul, here is a bit of advice. Don’t wait until after 6pm to try and find something to eat. I walked almost the entire downtown “mall” and NOTHING was open. This was at about 6:20. It took forever to find something to eat, and it wasn’t even in the “mall” complex. This brings me to the second note.
- If you wait till after 6 to eat in downtown St. Paul, you shouldn’t be shocked when the only place you find open is a Chinese restaurant with a “We prohibit guns in this establishment” sign.
- The people here are VERY nice. At least everyone I’ve asked for help/directions. Two people even let me into traffic lanes that were backed up.
- I went down to the 35W bridge site. It’s so sad looking at that knowing there are still people that have not been pulled out from under the concrete.
- The Dems should be ashamed of themselves. Forget the national level, scum-sucking democrats for a moment. Here in MN, they are complaining that this wouldn’t have happened if they would have just passed that .05 gas tax that was voted down earlier this year. Trying to argue with someone that believes that is an exercise in futility.
- The problem with our infrustructer has is NOT a lack of funding, it’s a lack of responsible spending. The government HAS enough money, it just chooses to spend it on things a LOT less important. (”Art” for example)
- Where does a good chunk of the money allocated for Minneapolis’ transportation fund go? Light rail…. because it doesn’t come close to being self sufficient. Weird.
- The parking garage where my car is parked has a sign that says they offer “Escort Service”. I knew this was a liberal town, but wow.
