El Goreical and the Nobel Peace Prize

I don’t really want to make this post about The Goreical. Though, much of the email I get from my conservative friends seem to indicate that they would be angry if Gore won the Nobel Peace Prize. I understand the temptation to make this about Gore. It’s hard to be lectured about your “carbon footprint” by a guy that flys private, gas-guzzling jets all around the world and has homes that use more energy than some small towns. I get that.

But what I don’t get is why my conservative friends get so upset about the Nobel Peace Prize. We all know that it is nothing more than a foux du fa fa feel good organization with a very left-wing political agenda. If you want to get mad at someone, get mad at the media for covering them like they are any type of mainstream group. The Nobel people are as much in the center as the Code Pinkos.

I remember in 1994 when Yasser Arafat was one of the winners. I was two years out of high-school and smart enough to know that Arafat was a terrorist. Arafat KILLED INNOCENT PEOPLE to get his political message out, yet he won a “Peace Prize”? It was at that point in my life that I came to understand what the “Peace Prize” was all about. It was about political correctness and making the organizers feel good about themselves. It was about advancing an anti-US, one world order agenda. It had nothing to do with “peace”. (Lesson to the kids: If you ever want to win the Nobel Peace Prize, you should start killing lots of innocent people now. Then, sometime down the road, announce you will stop killing them. The Nobel people will love that.)(oh, the good news is that you don’t really HAVE TO stop killing them. Just saying you are stopping is good enough for them.)

Even before that, in 1990, Mikhail Gorbachev won the Nobel peace prize for “helping to bring the Cold War to an end.” Uhm…. He helped bring the war to an end the same way the Brewers helped get the Cubs into the playoffs. He LOST the Cold War. The person that WON the Cold War, that brought actual peace to the world, was Ronald Reagan. Yet Ronald Reagan was not nominated. (He’s a conservative) However, our WORST PRESIDENT, Jimmy Carter did win the award in 2002. I guess it helps during the selection process to hate Israel.

So, I know it’s going to be tough when Gore wins the Nobel Peace Prize this Friday. Don’t sit around your house and get mad. Don’t try and figure out how a movie about Global Warming (which is a factually inaccurate movie that now require warnings about those “facts” in British schools) can net anyone a Nobel Peace Prize. I mean seriously, this is what the Nobel people have come down to? How on Earth can this be in the “Peace Prize” category? What “peace” has come from this movie? I guess they are thinking that global warming (not proven) will cause wars (what?) and that Gore’s talking about global warming (hypocritically) will keep those wars (the made up wars from the first sentence ) from happening? Ooops, there I go. Trying to figure them out. Doing what I’m telling you not to do. How very Gorish of me.

There’s too…much…pollution! (That’s done in a Jack Bauer yell)

It may sound like a publicity stunt, but Fox spokesman Chris Anderson says the network isn’t after bigger ratings. “We are publicizing ’24’s’ commitment to climate change for two reasons and two reasons only: to inspire the public to take global warming seriously and hopefully to motivate other studios to make changes to their production practices as well,” he says.

That is the understatement of the year. “The network isn’t after bigger ratings”. Trust me, go with a “global warming” theme and you’ll be right on target.

For those that haven’t added this all up yet, here is what’s happening. Fox has a contract with the producers of 24. All 24 has to do is deliver shows, which Fox has no control over the content of. The people that work on 24 are starting to take heat from all of their left-wing nutjob friends about working on a show that “caters to conservatives”. This whole “we aren’t after bigger ratings” thing is just Fox setting up what they KNOW will be a dismal season of 24.

A network spokesperson that says “we aren’t out for ratings” is lying as much as a Democrat that says “I don’t want to raise your taxes”.

And it’s who’s fault?

According to a study released Wednesday by the Urban Institute called “Paying the Price: The Impact of Immigration Raids on America’s Children,” for every two immigrants apprehended, one child was left behind. The study, considered the first of its kind, found that two-thirds of the affected children are U. S. citizens or legal residents. The study was commissioned by the National Council of La Raza, a Latino civil rights organization based in Washington, D.C.

While the raids are intended to deter illegal immigrants from working, the study found that children whose parents were apprehended in the raids experienced “feelings of abandonment and showed symptoms of emotional trauma, psychological duress and mental health problems.”

“That we are putting the youngest, most vulnerable members of our society at profound risk is something that must be taken into consideration in any policy decision,” said Janet Murguia, president and CEO of La Raza. The study looked at three large workplace raids, in Greely, Colo.; Grand Island, Neb.; and New Bedford, Mass., in which more than 900 adults were arrested. Collectively, they had a little more than 500 children.

How about… the parents of these kids take this into consideration before THEY make the decision to come to illegally enter this country? Of course, we can’t ask for that now, can we?
